The past two years has seen both the Eastern shift of aggregate facilities towards 85th Street and the steady investment in feed-line conveyors to bring excavated materials to plants instead of shifting entire plants to follow the mining face. This planned Eastern shift and congregation of aggregate facilities has been working towards achieving additional goals such as the exploration of alternative power sources for replacement of current diesel generators.
The Line Power Program aims at bringing in line power straight to aggregate facilities and therefore replace diesel generators with direct cables. Acting on both sound reduction and environmental initiatives, the Line Power Program is scheduled to replace two diesel generators within H2 of 2025 and replace an additional two plus generators in early 2026.
Alongside reduced sound and emission sources, replacement of diesel generators leads to lessening in-pit traffic for refueling trucks, maintenance trucks, and reduces plant footprints leading to the ability to prioritize Western-placed stockpiles (additional internal sound barriers) in other key areas.
