With the City of Calgary returning to water restrictions on August 26th, the STAR site has also reinstated effective methods of dust control that utilize pre-existing fresh water sources.

Similar to the initial restrictions, to ensure dust control remains effective within the STAR site and for the surrounding community during this time, on-site water trucks have switched to obtaining water from alternate sources that will not impact Calgary's water supply. These sources are the pre-existing fresh water washing ponds that were filled with water purchased from the City of Calgary earlier in the year.

Pump stations have been set up in the STAR site and other surrounding gravel pits that have pre-existing sources available to provide water and ensure dust control is maintained until the water main is fixed.
