Calgary Water Main Break & STAR Site Dust Control Plan

In light of the recent water main break along 16th Avenue NW, the City of Calgary has issued an 'Emergency Alert' to halt all unnecessary water usage.

To ensure dust control remains effective within the STAR site and for the surrounding community during this time, all on-site water trucks have switched to obtaining water from alternate sources that will not impact Calgary's water supply. These sources are the pre-existing fresh water washing ponds that were filled with water purchased from the City of Calgary earlier in the year.

Pump stations have been set up in the STAR site and other surrounding gravel pits that have pre-existing sources available to provide water and ensure dust control is maintained until the water main is fixed.
