Alberta Transportation Contract Crusher Mobilization

An Alberta Transportation Contractor is expected to begin mobilization of a crusher to the STAR Pit in mid June. This plant will be used to produce road base and asphalt aggregate, supporting major economic programs including the Deerfoot Trail upgrades. It is anticipated that the crusher will remain onsite until late-2026.

The crusher location for 2026 will be similar to that of 2025. The 2026 plant site is designed to allow plant components to sit at an elevation lower than the surrounding area to provide additional sound dampening.

The product crushed will be stockpiled in the Alberta Transportation plant site located near the southeast corner of the STAR site adjacent to 85^th Street and will either be consumed by a Portable Asphalt plant; or be shipped to their appropriate project sites throughout the year.
