An Alberta Transportation Contractor has begun to mobilized a crusher to the STAR Pit to be set up in Phase 5. This plant will be used to produce road base and asphalt aggregate for supporting various projects in the Greater Calgary Area such as multiple Deerfoot Trail widening sections. It is anticipated that the crusher will remain onsite until late-2025.

To drive continuous improvement, the crusher location for the 2025 season has been shifted more than 300m East away from local communities when compared to prior year. It's placement is also adjacent to stockpiled material on its Western side to act as additional sound deflection as recommended by sound professionals.

The product crushed will be stockpiled in the AT plant site located near the southeast corner of the STAR site adjacent to 85 Street and will either be be consumed by a Portable Asphalt plant which will be mobilized to site in approximately one month; or be shipped to their appropriate project sites throughout the year.
